No one who can hear is untouched by music. Music isn’t just sounds or frequencies. You remember those car rides and the music you played then, you might also remember the festival seasons and the folk music played there, listening to a song while watching a sunset – without a doubt you remember this one too. You remember all these memories because of the emotions you felt at that moment. Music can be called an emotion amplifier or a way for emotions to flow. It is truly a blessing for mankind. While today’s music mostly consists of pop, rock, hip hop, etc. that are western-influenced, the root music of our country is slowly fading away.

While most of the music played today is commercial. There still exist people that have a taste for Indian music. Many classical music segments are available throughout the internet. There are even online courses through which you can learn classical music online, from the comfort of your home. Not only that but there is a new trend, in this trend you fuse classical music with other genres of music. This trend has gained a massive following over the period and people are always on the lookout for any new artistic sounds when it comes to classical fusion.

While classical music is being fused, regional music is booming with new remixes of old classics. Regional music has changed over the years as now anyone can hear a Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, etc. sing from anywhere and with the availability of translated lyrics, they can even understand the regional song without being able to understand that particular language. Due to all these options available, people now try to discover songs and artists from different languages. The difference in language is no longer that big of a hurdle now. On the other hand, there have been releases of multilingual songs over the period connecting different artists and languages.

Music and radio used to go hand in hand before. Now radio is commercialized but there are still many channels that offer good music. The rise of the internet, resulting in the formation of many streaming platforms as well as online radios. The value of radio has decreased as now you can listen to any song you want at any time with the help of streaming services. The rise of streaming services did affect radio but it also helped many new artists to emerge and thus help put their music out. Streaming services have millions of songs at their disposal, only a few have old classics and old hidden gems. Before the rise of streaming services, there were very limited options when it came to listening to music and one of the most used was piracy which in no way benefitted the artist. Now, artists get paid for their streams and do not have to worry about piracy.

You can get folk songs, regional songs and classical music songs on any of the various applications available on the internet.

Keep listening!
